There is no such term as "Christian Sabbath" anywhere in the Bible. The Sabbath is the Sabbath. It's in the Fourth Commandment as the 7th day, not the first day of the week, which is Sunday.

The Laws of the Mosaic Covenant are fulfilled in Christ - The Law and the Sabbath were pointing to Christ, it was a shadow of what was to come, and not the substance (Colossians 2:16-17). Jesus said that He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). In fulfilling the law, He completed the law. How did He do this? Jesus fulfilled the Law by obeying the law perfectly and by completing the sacrificial system. Jesus saves to the uttermost! In what way can we offer one more sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins? Jesus pronouncement, “It is finished,” signified the completion and fulfillment of the law.

▸ Keeping the sabbath was part of the law that Christ took away. “He . . . canceled out the certificate of death consisting of decrees against us . . .; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ” (Colossians 2:14-17). Christians are no more obligated to keep the sabbath than the other Old Testament festivals or its food and drink regulations! In fact, we are warned against going back to the Law to justify our practices. To do so severs us from Christ (Galatians 5:1-4).

The Mosaic Covenant is made with Israel and not with the church - The Mosaic Covenant is a conditional covenant and not an unconditional covenant (Exodus 24:1-11). Because it is conditional, it can be broken and annulled. Unconditional covenants, in comparison, are not broken. God makes them and fulfilled by God without condition. The Mosaic Covenant is a conditional covenant made with Israel and not with the church. The Mosaic Covenant involves the 613 ‘Mitzvoth’ laws (blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience). The law of commandments and ordinances served as a wall (Ephesians 2:14-15) to separate the Israelites from the Gentiles. The Gentiles did not participate in the covenants of promise but were separated. Hebrews 8:13 renders the Mosaic Covenant as obsolete (the word for obsolete is the same Greek word used by Jesus in Mark 2:20-21 when He says not to sew old cloth on new).

Why are Christians so hateful when it comes to the subject of the Sabbath? Some of them see red if the subject comes up. The Bible says not to judge for keeping a holy festival, the Sabbath (in original in singular, not plural), New Moons, or in regard to food or drink etc., yet this is exactly what does happen if you tell a Christian that you observe any of these things!

ADVENTIST BELIEF SYSTEM In Matthew Jesus said he came for the lost sheep of the house of Israel. They alone were given the sabbath day as a sign in Exodus 31 :17. Even though it was one of the ten commandments, it is a ceremonial law that pointed to Christ in Colossians 2:16. This matches Romans 14:5,6 that teaches that there is freedom in Christ concerning days, and the fact that Jesus GAVE NO COMMANDMENT TO KEEP EITHER SATURDAY OR SUNDAY. The day of the resurrection is superior to the sabbath day as the New Testament unfolds, especially after the resurrection. Jesus discusses his resurrection in Revelation chapter one and that day is the Lord's Day. This matches the fact that the LORD of the sabbath decided not to command sabbath keeping in the New Testament. CHRISTIANS have been meeting on the first day of the week (Sunday) since the first century to commemorate the resurrection. This was before Constantine and the popes ( see 1 Corinthians 16:2; Acts 20:7). This practice continued down through the centuries to the present day. Confused groups met on the sabbath day, just like the Hebrew Roots Movement heresy. Adventists want to stay in the Mosaic law even though the New Testament has new term and new commandments. This is part of the deception of Ellen White. Also, her main doctrines cannot be found in the New Testament. For example, probation, investigative judgment, the claim that Jesus is Michael the archangel, soul sleeping, etc. The scriptures are misinterpreted by Adventists so that they fit in with her teachings. For example, Colossians 2:16 does not include the weekly sabbath day they say, the rest of faith in Hebrews chapter four really means keeping the sabbath day they say, and the sabbath day has to be kept because it's a moral law even though it's NOT A COMMAND OR LAW IN THE NEW TESTAMENT. The blindness of it all, and the Lord will hold people accountable for believing and propagating lies. Adventists try to use Matthew 24:20 to prove sabbath keeping when Jesus was just warning his people about the attack by the Romans on the sabbath day, and didn't want his people to be there. The demonization of Sunday by Ellen White has led to false doctrine, such as going to church on Sunday is or will be taking the Mark of the beast. Adventists have been waiting well over 100 years for a Sunday law. This is known by some as the Sunday law hoax. This is believed even though it has been shown irrefutably that the first day of the week is the prominent day of the week in the New Testament, not the seventh. Quoting Genesis and the Old Testament doesn't change this fact. The Old Testament foretold that the sabbath would end in Hosea 2:11. Jesus died because of ALL the broken laws in the handwriting of ordinances through Moses. The Adventists separate the ten commandments from there, and this somehow makes the sabbath day a moral law in the New Testament even though it is NOT a command of Christ in the New Testament. Though the ten commandments were written in stone does not change the terms and truths of the New Testament. It is plain to see now that trying to keep the sabbath day is stepping on the grace of Christ. Israel and David couldn't keep the law perfectly, and now Adventists think they can? People live in a body of death with a sin nature and can potentially sin at any moment. It is best to repent and quickly leave the false doctrines, trusting only in the merits and grace of Christ, following him by obeying his New Testament Commandments. The Lord Jesus Christ is the all sufficient Saviour according to Colossians 2:10, and the moral law is contained in his New Testament Commandments. To love Christ is to keep his commandments, and they exclude a sabbath keeping commandment. It is clearly seen that the Lord of the sabbath did NOT impose sabbath keeping on his followers. The reasons have been explained. Furthermore, Jesus gave the command to REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE, he did NOT say to remember or keep the sabbath day. In spite of this fact, some fanatical sabbath keepers insist the sabbath is a moral law and must be kept as though it's some kind of ticket to heaven against abundant evidence to the contrary. The New Testament is also totally silent about keeping the sabbath day in heaven. The Lord Jesus warned of false prophets, and implied to just simply follow him. "His sheep hear his voice, a stranger they will not follow."

Christians have a new sabbath rest (Mat. 11:28-12:4) 10. Christians have a better sabbath rest (Mat. 11:28, Heb. 4:8-10) that we enter the day we hear the gospel or believe (Heb. 3:10, 4:3). 11. The sabbath is part of the ministration of death according to 2 Cor. 3, and that is why christians cant be under the law, sabbath included. 12. The sabbath was a Jewish ceremonial law that pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ, and has nothing to do with the gospel and the gentiles (see Numbers 28:9,10; Colossians 2:16,17). 13. Christians met on the first day of the week since the first century because of the resurrection (see 1 Corinthians 16:2; Acts 20:7). True believers know that there is no sabbath commandment imposed by Christ upon his followers. Furthermore, Christians that meet on the first day of the week are not "Sunday keepers." 14. Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week which is commemorated on Easter Sunday, that Lordly day called the Lord's Day (see Revelation 1:10). The first day of the week has also been called the Lord's Day because of that event. 15. There is liberty in Christ concerning days as noted in Romans 14:5,6. These scriptures are in harmony with the fact that the Lord Jesus gave NO commandment to keep either Saturday or Sunday. The sabbath was ceremonial as noted in Numbers 28:9,10; Colossians 2:16,17 16. Trying to keep the sabbath day is living under the abolished Old Covenant, staring down the New Testament, and stepping on the grace of Christ. 17. Hebrews 4:3 tells us that it is a rest of FAITH, therefore it's not the keeping of a day. The book of Hebrews is talking about the rest in Christ's salvation. Jewish Christians are warned to not go back to Judaism and not leave Christ (backslide or apostatize). Trying to keep the sabbath day as a moral obligation, for example, is lapsing back to Judaism and putting oneself under the law. Returning to Judaism is described as going back to perdition because only Jesus saves, not the Old Testament system. He is "the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him (Hebrews 5:9)." 18. In the KJV, the word "sabbath' isn't even mentioned in the book of Hebrews as well as the rest of the New Testament after the book of Acts except for Colossians 2:16, where the apostle Paul warns Christians about judgmental sabbath keepers. 19. The sabbath is an abrogated Hebrew ritual law that pointed to Christ as noted in Colossians 2:16,17, and has NOTHING to do with the gospel and the gentiles. Paul did not write a New Testament letter to the sabbath keepers of the synagogues. 20. The Lord commanded to REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE, not the sabbath day. 21. The synagogue sabbath keepers, "the Jews who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us, and they please not God... (1 Thessalonians 2:14,15)." Sabbath keepers murdered Stephen in Acts chapter 7, and stoned Paul in Acts chapter 14. Trying to keep the sabbath day seems to have turned some people into proud pharisee types, thinking that they're better than the ones who don't, and possibly regard it as a ticket to heaven. 22. The commandments of God in the New Testament are the Commandments of Christ of which the sabbath day is EXCLUDED. The commandments of God mentioned in the Book of Revelation are the COMMANDMENTS OF CHRIST, and there's a lot more than ten in the New Testament. For example, Jesus commanded to REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE, not keep the sabbath day. Sabbath keepers mistakenly say the commandments of God in the New Testament are the Ten Commandments of the Old Testament law. It seems this is done in order to ensure the keeping of the sabbath day is a moral obligation just as they were told by their prophetess. 23. The prophecy of sabbath removal: "I will also cause...to cease...her new moons, and her sabbaths...(Hosea 2:11)." This is a prophecy of the ultimate removal of the sabbath day as indicated by the apostle Paul in Colossians 2:15-17 who used some of the exact terminology of Hosea 2:11 to describe how "the sabbath" etc. had been taken out of the way, Jesus our Lord "nailing to his cross." OTHER FALSE DOCTRINES OR HERESIES: Soul sleeping (see 1 Samuel 28:11-20; Luke 16-19-22, 20:38; Hebrews 12:23; James 2:26; 2 Corinthians 5:8; 1 Thessalonians 4:14; Revelation 15:8; Acts 7:56-59; Luke 23:43; 2 Timothy 1:10 etc. Forbidding to... abstain from meats ( 1 Timothy 4:3 )." Jesus ate fish and lamb. What goes into the mouth does not enter the heart (see Luke 7:18, 19). "The kingdom of God is not meat or drink... (Romans 14:17)." "Abstain from...things strangled and from blood (Acts 15:20)." Investigative judgment, no hell annihilation, Jesus is Michael the archangel, Sunday law mark of the beast, Saturday is the Lord's Day, the United States is the beast of Revelation 13:11. America is actually the Great Eagle in Revelation 12:14. The remnant in Revelation 12:17 are Christians in non-Christian lands who would experience persecution and or martyrdom outside the United States, the Land of the Great Eagle. Adventists are not the remnant mentioned in this verse. The false claim that the sabbath is the heart of the moral law (see Romans 13:10). The false claim that the sabbath is the seal of God (see Ephesians 1:13).
